still hanging on

Hi everyone,

I don't know how to find my old thread but I know it's here someone. I just thought I would update a bit on things. Life is getting better but I still have down days (like today. )

I am still living with my parents. I have a new job, my daughter is in an awesome daycare, and my friends and family are wonderful support. My XABF is still trying to get me back and says he's going to addiction counselling and has quit drinking. So far the times he's spent with my daughter, he's remained sober. I hope for his and her sake that he keeps it up. For me, I am detaching as much as I can. I still love him deeply. I wish I didn't, but I do. I know in my heart and in my head that the relationship is over and I don't want to go back to him. But it just sucks having to see him when I drop her off with him. I just have to take it all day by day, in any case.

Anyways, just thought I'd share!

Good stuff!

I am so glad that you are moving forward in a positive way for yourself. I do hope he continues to stay sober during the time w/your DD, she deserves that.

Good to hear from you!

Hi yoga,
I was so glad to read your post! Three cheers for you!

Please take care of yourself and go to alanon meetings
and take advantage of the counsellors on the Internet.
I have found it so helpful to understand the dynamic
of the codependent/alcoholic/narcissist traits relationship.

The you tube videos have answered many questions about
thoughts and feelings and behaviors I have struggled with
for years and years. I like Ross Rosenberg, and counselor Carl
(Don't like that cheesy music though). And there is sooo much
wisdom in this forum and the stickies. I need to remind myself
almost daily not to feel bad that I didn't have access/know about
these resources till recently.

Hugs & prayers to you for getting healthy and taking care of
your child.
