Gone Too Soon, I guess alcohol won
I am so sorry for your loss. Sounds like a storybook marriage in the beginning, which makes it harder to bear, I'm sure. This disease of alcoholism is a horrible thief. I wish you well in your time of grieving.
Lucy, I am terribly sorry. I am praying for all of you. You did all you could have possibly done in an admirable fashion. In his sick state, you loved from a distance while caring for yourself and your children. You listened to your intuition and sought help when you knew something was wrong. Your love and compassion are evident. I pray that you will find peace. I pray for your daughters most especially. God bless all of you.
I'm so sorry for your loss Lucy. My heart is breaking for you and your girls. Your husband sounds like he was a great man at his core. It's tragic how this disease can take good people down so hard.
Sending love and peace to you and yours.

Lucy, so sorry for your loss. Yes, please be kind to yourself and hold your girls tight.
My mother died from addiction, and 30 years later I'm still grateful for the good memories of a very loving person. Keep hold of hose lovely memories. They will stick with you forever, no one can take those away.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so sorry your husband never found the joys of recovery. His soul is now at peace.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We have no family down here but we do have great friends.
I was determined to tell the kids this morning. They are so happy right now, innocently playing. I guess there is never a good time for news like this. I feel like once I tell them it will forever change their world.
