New years day he announced he was drying out for January. I was shocked. He lasted 10 days. Day 2 we're on vodka!
Those 10 days were wonderful.
We were so close.
Oh well.
Lets try again!

Sorry, that must have been very disappointing.

The thing is, even if you FELT like you were close, the alcohol was wedging its way back in there the whole time.

I'm sorry.

I remember one month when AXH was sober. It was one of the best of our marriage. I told him so. He got angry at me and went to the liquor store, because (he said) he was no different when he was drinking than when he was sober.

Took me another 10 years before I realized that month was the longest sober he had been since he was a teenager, and that it was very unlikely that it would ever happen again.
