What's wrong with this picture?
Speaking from a female perspective, and having observed and talked with many friends over the years about similar topics, I agree with Ophelia. Historically, we are a patriarchy. Women were valued on dowry, child bearing and looks/sex. Only in recent decades has that shifted on a national level. We are in the infancy of gender equality, so it will probably be several generations before women don't NEED to be in relationships to feel valued.
Wanting to be in a relationship and needing to be in one are very different and I think ladies who put up with the toxic messes out there are in the need category.
