2nd hand trigger
Some neighbours two doors up are having a party. I can hear the music and the "W00Ts" and the "yee hahs", I can cope with that.
What I didn't expect was to feel instantly sick, nervous and nauseous when the smell of pot being smoked drifted over.
GROSS!
As soon as I smelled it my anxiety went to level 10 and I felt that flight or fight response.
I'm telling my brain and my body that HE is not here and no-one is smoking pot in my house so it's all OK.

Are you working with a counselor????
I remember in my twenties having a very similar reaction to the man upstairs screaming at his wife, he was drunk, it put me right in the middle of my childhood. I actually was so shaken up I eventually moved from the apartment.
Be good to yourself and if you can talk it over with a counselor.
Big Hug to you, Katie

I had a few moments like this, early on after leaving my AH. The emotions do pass after time, but I have found that disgusted feeling still there when I see people drunk and stumbling around outside the bars.
