A tradgedy in my al anon family....
Last night, my dear friend and sponsee, Marietta, lost her 8 year old son. He was hit by a car on Key Biscayne, Florida while crossing a busy causeway. She is devestated beyond belief.
May I ask for your prayers for her, her husband Doug and other son, Dougie?
She had also just picked up a white chip in AA just 2 days ago.

Hugs and prayers. She will need a lot of love and support and a good listening ear.
AS difficult as this sounds, remember to take care of you too. Many of us tend to take on other peoples' pain ... and it can be very draining.

Sending tons of love and prayers,
May she seek her H.P. grace and love though all this...There is nothing harder to get though than the lost of one's child. I try very hard to remember my H.P. didn't take them, He recieves them...Hope that gives you something for you to carry with you though the nexted few days..

It is always hard to hear this kind of news. Hope they won't lose the belief in H.P.

I will be thinking of your dear friend today Christina; saying a special prayer for her and her family.
My heart is so full of familiar greif, for losing a child is so tough... and seemingly so unfair.

Many prayers to both you and your friend and family!!
Losing a family member is hard enough. I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose a child. She is blessed to have a friend like you to help her.

Hello
Thank you all SO SO SO much for your prayers and hugs. I will pass them on to Marietta. She is so numbed out, but boy does she have some faith. We read the bible, read the Courage to Change and just sat. She said she is working to accept this. She is not blaming anyone at this time, just trying gently to accept.
We found out that the driver of the car was NOT intoxicated by anymeans. Thank god. It was just a terrible accident.
He will be buried in a cemetary very close to home, next to the grave of another young boy, which made Marietta happy to know he wont be alone. I told her he will never be alone, for she lives in his soul and he is at the hand of his eternal father.
I called my al anon team,,,friends, members of our group and said HELP, a friend is in need,,,several came, many called, other scoming later. She fears being alone,,,told her Al Anon doesnt allow that,,,,we stick together, thats how we get healthy,,together.
Odd thing........this am, before her call, I kept repeating the 3rd step prayer,,,,which asks god to let me be of service to others to carry out HIS will.....I usually only say it once, but today felt need to say it over and over....It was a godshot,,,,I guess,,,telling me I would be of service to another today. Wow, how HE works.

I lost my little boy to a drunk driver over 15 years ago. Nothing tears a family apart quicker. Everyone and their kindness and prayers made the situation so much better. It is really nice to know that people really care. I still never want to deal with it again. My prayers go out to her.
