Great quote from Courage to Change...
Great quote from Courage to Change...
Was reading pages on acceptance, feeling a little wobbly with the divorce, and I read this quote at the bottom of the page:
If you understand,
things are as they are.
If you don't understand,
things are as they are.
(Zen proverb)
Wow, exactly what I needed. Things are what they are no matter what I believe or magical thinking or feeling sorry or wishing things were different.
I can either accept them and go with the flow or not and fight the current.
I'm tired of fighting the current. Most times I'm pretty good with going with the flow but right now the finality of the relationship is hitting me even though I know it was over a long time ago. Oh, well.
I am so glad I have a program, Al-anon and this wonderful forum.
Thanks to everyone for being here.

Your friend,
EXCELLENT! This reminds me I read something the other day in my ODAAT that I connected to so much it was like BAM! I should go find what it said and post it too. Excellent idea for a thread - love it

Me too... sometimes you get tired of fighting against reality, know what I mean? I am finding myself still doing it in my own head, wishing I could turn back time and fix everything. Magical thinking indeed. Acceptance is what we need right now.

Thank you for that. I am fighting a battle in my head right now about wanting my relationship to last and return to what it was. My emotions and mentality has been hurting so much thinking I can change the way things are.
