Step Four

Are any of you reading the Big Book to help with your understanding? Anyone following along and actually applying Step 4 to your own life?

I have done a few step fours - from the Al Anon perspective. There is an online step study here as well for Friends and Family. You might find some good information there.

I look forward to hearing others thoughts on Step Four!

Step 4 worked great for me the first time around...I followed the Al-Anon Step Study guide.

It is time for another...I have just been putting it off, waiting for a quieter time to sit and focus.

I have done several Step 4's.

First ones were from the AA perspective, and then when I became a
member of Alanon also several from the Alanon perspective.

For me it has and is a great tool for dealing with, the 'wreckage' of
my past and my reactions to that wreckage.

So to answer your question, YES I use Step 4, in conjunction with
ALL the steps to not only LIVE SOBER, but act and react differently
to all who cross my path.

Love and hugs,

Step 4 scared the heck out of me ~ but a Great Friend & A Double Winner explained it to me like this ~ before you can know what you need to work on you have to know what you have ~
Step 4 just lets you actually look at what you have ~ you don't have to explain it, understand it, or excuse it ~ you just have to state what it is ~

Just like a Grocery Store - Manager doesn't have to explain on his Inventory why he has 20 bottles of ketchup and 1 bottle of mustard - he's just listing what he has so he knows what he needs to get rid of and what he needs to get some more of ~

Kinda simple but for me - it truly helped take away the fear ~

Rita
