Just read "Getting Them Sober"!!

Wow! Highly recommend it! I bought it for about $8 on Amazon and read it on my computer.

This is the kind of book that can help whether you're still with your A, thinking of leaving, left him, or been dumped by him. (Or her!)

There is a whole series, too, that deals with issues such as the impact of the A on children, your life after the A, etc.

Hope it helps someone else, too!

I return to this book about once a month or so, sometimes just need her gentle reminders.

Thank you very much. I just finished "Under the Influence" and will order this one next. Gotta love Amazon and the Kindle app

Keep seeing this title here, and though I am a major reader and information junkie, I just can't seem to give a fart about getting the A in my life sober. That's his job, or not.

I know I sound snarky, just not feeling the love for addicts at the moment.

The title is a little misleading. I found the book very helpful for ME, not my A. (Who is still not sober). I definitely recommend it.

It's one of those books where the title is phrased to get its intended audience to pick it up and read it, rather than to state what the book is about.

Sort of like "Why Does He Do That?" which is more of a handbook for people in abusive situations on how to first recognize and then extract themselves from the abuse.

Star Cat is right...I too found the title to be misleading and the information inside to be more like Al-Anon's focus (on us, not the alcoholic).

I, too, recommend the book but do take it with a grain of salt, as with any self-help book out there. Take what works and leave the rest.

Yes, the title is misleading. I read the reviews and saw that it wasn't just for people who are staying with their alcoholics, but for people who have left, too. So I read it and it was really good for me having just dumped the AXBF.

Feeling less snarky today, and more myself. I just may pick it up. Feedback to follow.

Thanks for all of the great advice, support and friendship here!
