My small victory
I just wanted to share my small personal victory with you. I have been very distraught since my AW started drinking again afer 5+ yrs sober. She is back to her old ways hiding bottles etc. After joining this group and al anon, I realized I was up to MY old self destructive habits as well. My first step in my recovery was to stop trying to find hidden liquor bottles and seeing how much she is drinking. It is my first act of admitting my powerlessness over this disease.
I have to tell you it has given me enormous emotional relief. I still know the usual hiding spots, and cringe when she goes there, but I am trying not to. I still have a lot of work to do, but I hope this is a beginning of a retun to sanity over an otherwise insane situation.
Thank you all for sharing your wisdom, so we may all thrive even during the most difficult times of our lives.
