My main problem was that I was listening to his words, and those words were in direct opposition to his actions. He would say he loved me, but he didn't treat me at all lovingly. He would say he wanted our marriage to work, but the things he did were damaging it. The cognitive dissonance is enough to make anyone feel crazy.
When I first came to SR, one of the first things I learned was to believe the actions, not the words. Try tuning out the words he says and paying attention only to his actions. Then see how you feel about it.
