When bad stuff happens

In the past 2 months, three people that I knew, two of them closely, were on TV news due to tragedies. Needless to say, they're alcoholics and addicts
And what is worse, none of it was a surprise to me. They were disaster waiting to happen.

This is so unsettling and disturbing. It could have been myself. Im grateful to be alive. But Im also very scared. I know Im at risk too.

I find myself planning how am I gonna react, what am Im gonna do and say when I hear about the next premature death.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

AndreTT... I think you will find that most of us have experienced this "worry"... waiting for the fateful phone call that a loved one is in jail, is injured, has injured someone else, is dead, is in the hospital etc., etc. For me, my partner is an alcoholic and we have lost many friends to the tragedy that is addiction and those facts STILL haven't been enough to illicit a change in behavior on her part! It's always someone else who has been "stupid"!
