Can problem drinkers drink without problems?

SW you are so right. Any counselor not properly trained and qualified in addiction counseling, yet offers counseling on the subject, has absolutely no business doing so and can easily create some very serious ongoing problems, more than you had going into it.
I was in a similar situation and it was a disaster. I would never again go to any counselor involving my AH that did not have extensive and thorough training in substance abuse.
It is a waste of time and money and potentially very detrimental when they cluelessly tell an alcoholic that moderate drinking is acceptable. Its kind of like telling someone it is okay to open Pandora’s box because it is perfectly harmless.
