I know nothing of grown kids because mine are not and if they would go out for a day I'd be a much saner woman. :stress:

However, I do understand that it feels really weird, unsettled, and a little scary to suddenly be unattached around the holidays. Even with the chaos my xah was there to share a moment here and there with and he recognized the season etc. I don't know - I don't even mind being alone and actually prefer it much of the time but I'm discovering I'm not much of a fan of it over the holidays. :P You have the added change of kids that are transitioning into a new norm of being with family.

I like the idea of calling your kids and just explaining and asking for a do over and see if you can get together with them for even a couple of hours.

I hope you can manage Christmas plans with someone other then just 20yo's. My cousin's kids are that age and yes - in/out/never keeping their word. I was never that way (ha - just kidding, I was totally that way too - haha).
