I've got a different God then, the one I was broght up to believe in as a boy.

My faith is what keeps me sane in a world i sometimes view as spiining out of control.
Years back when, I first got into recovery, I read a story about people picking up pennies on the ground. I can realte to bending down being humble and reminding myself to put trust in God.
I've even got others in the program to follow suit.
I was at a U of I football game in IL. and everyone was drinking at the game. I was very uncomfortable. I kept wishing I could find a penny. About half time, a lot of the crowd had went out of the stadium to drink. I went down for a soda. I got back up to my seat, there was a penny on my seat. I didn't have any change in my pockets. Why out of 60 thousand seats was there a penny on mine?

Not the parting of the Red Sea mind you but, I figure God has lots more people to take care of then.

Thank you everyone or your very interesting and varied responses--this is so enlightening to me to see all these viewpoints.

I'm beginning to understand better about what a "higher purpose" is, and that it is individual to everyone. When I go camping and get away from the city lights and look up at the stars and see how many other universes, stars, planets, etc. are out there, I do feel very "small", but in a good way. It's this sense of awe that comes over me. I think I feel this way whenever I'm in nature (or at the awesome planetarium in my city). I've always felt spiritually connected to nature, so maybe, for me, that is my higher purpose.

I still haven't found mine yet, one day it's this, the next day it's that. I know I will settle down eventually, for now, I am exploring all my options.

The way I figure it is: As long as I am moving in the right direction I must be doing something right!

Tomorrow is another day, it just might be that beautiful sunset, or, who knows?
