Newbie here
Hello everyone, I am a newbie here and have been so helped by the posts. I feel like this is the forum I need to be in right now as I am in a DV shelter and finally, finally standing on my own two legs and going into recovery. I am going to my first Al-Anon meeting tomorrow. My spouse is alcoholic and violent. I left him for the third and final time 2 weeks ago and it has been sooo hard but I am doing it. I am still very emotional and overwhelmed so there is not much I can post right now (it is still so very much to deal with) but I wanted to say hi and I hope to gleem alot in the coming weeks and share a bit of my story too...
Hello Lady, and welcome to SoberRecovery.
Congratulations on getting out of that insanity and starting a new life for yourself, that is awesome. I found al-anon to be wonderful, I hope you like it too. Go ahead and be emotional and overwhelmed, cuz this disease is exactly that. Take your time and post whatever you want whenever you want, this is a no-stress zone
Welcome again, pull up a "chair" and get comfy

Greetings, lady! I'm so glad you're out of that dangerous situation and taking steps to take care of yourself. It sounds like you've had some very scary stuff happen. This is a terrific group with unfailing support... I'm glad you're here. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing!
Hello there (((Lady)))
Welcome to SR. I am glad that you found us!
There's a lot of support and wisdom to be found here. I know when I first found SR I spent hours reading the "stickies" (top of main friends/family page) and I learned so much. What I've learned here at SR has totally changed my life. I hope you keep posting. Looking forward to getting to know more about you.
Keep safe and good for you...stick with it...it only gets better.

Welcome to SR!
You took a huge and critical first step by getting yourself in a safe place. I just want to give you a big ((((((HUG))))) for doing that! I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for you and you're bound to feel all sorts of emotions during this transition. That's ok...it's normal.
This is a great place to share, vent, learn, help yourself and, by sharing your story, an opportunity to help others as well. I can't begin to tell you how much I have learned about myself by reading other peoples' stories. The courage you have shown in your own life will be an inspiration to many.
And now that you're safe, Alanon is a wonderful support system that I'm sure will enhance your new life. I hope you find that this forum is equally as helpful to you.
When you're ready, please come back and share some more.
I'm so happy for you!!!

Hi everyone and thanks for the (((hugs))). I went to my first Al-Anon meeting tonight. I can't comment on it right now but I do plan on going to others. I am feeling a bit better than last night. I turned off my cell phone so last night was quiet. I had been bombarded by my ah spouse crying for me to come home. It wears on you after awhile. Now I am feeling a bit better, rested and got to go and fellowship some with other families. That and finding this site and reading all the great posts has really helped alot. So I just wanted to say hello and thanks.
Nice to meet you, Lady. I lived with an alcoholic man for 8 plus years, and he also got volient as his disease progressed. You've made a very wise choice - keeping yourself safe. I admire you. Blessings, K
