Dancing in the rain this weekend - Weekenders 13 - 16 March 2020
to the Weekenders
I came across these few words this week,
‘Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning how to dance in the rain’.
It made me think, not just of our sobriety, but with what is happening in the world just now.
Both can be so all consuming, we forget about dancing in the rain.
To achieve this freedom, from booze and the stresses we’re living among just now, let’s prepare ourselves.
Fill our tool boxes to the brim of our ‘go to’ favourite tools and take necessary steps to protect ourselves, as much as we have the knowledge to.
It’s now time to dance in the rain with all our hearts and if we can’t go outside, dance indoors.
We’ve climbed a mountain for our sobriety, let’s get over these other bumps in the road, knowing we’ve done everything we can to ensure our wellbeing.
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes.
(Psst. We’re not just here to talk about the good stuff, if you’re struggling.....please shout out).
(We’re here all week too!)

Had to sneak that in first Mags haha.
GREAT post. I just love the rain & the thought of dancing in the rain.
I remember years ago, before i was drinking, i had a birthday party at home for one of my daughters and her little friends.
It was a warm day & out of nowhere it started to rain. All the kids ran under cover.
I said come outside and all hold hands and we will dance in the rain. So we all did. And it was magical. We all held hands and danced in circles and sang some songs.
it wasn't heavy rain or thunder and lightning of course, but I'll never forget it.
The kids saying this was the best bitrthday ever, Hollys Mum let us dance in the rain!
Not sure if these kids were ever allowed back with Holly's crazy mother hahaha , but it's such a fond memory pre drinking days , i just had to share xxx

IN!
Thanks for the OP Mags! Boozing to escape life's travails is akin to hiding from a storm by climbing in to a tumble dryer.
Congratulations on shotgun Snoozy, good story about the birthday party.
