He’s Gone Now
My ex-AH died yesterday (see my precious posts). Our divorce was final not even 2 weeks ago. None of this feels real. I’ve never experienced any pain that comes remotely close to this. Last night I had to tell our 2 children, age 3 and 6, that their Daddy would not be coming home from the hospital. They don’t even know we were divorced. When they’re older all of this information will be shared. Divorce, and the actual cause of their fathers death. But right now it feels like my whole world is spinning into oblivion.
Stay connected and close to those you trust
to lean on during this time for strength and
serenity. Always feel free to share about how
you are feeling so these feelings dont stay
bottled up inside you.
Many of us have experienced loss in our lives
and all those feelings that come with it.
Seek professional help if needed for you and
you children as you move forward in your lives
achieving health and happiness in all areas of
your life.
Sending prayers, care, understanding, support
and love your way.

I'm so, so sorry for the unimagineable pain you are feeling. I know it well as I lost my husband a little over 4 years ago. Please surround yourself with people who love and support you. I have had a few friends who have helped me beyond measure. I have also been going to counseling since about 6 months after his passing.
The tidal waves of grief seem impossible to bear right now, but I promise that, with time, these waves become smaller and smaller until they are just passing ripples.
Please come here any time if you need someone to talk to! You and your precious little ones are in my prayers!

I'm sorry Renee. It is devastating. You wrote once that you were still in touch with his family that you are very close to. I would hope that you can all share your grief and come together to comfort each other as well.
I'm sure it has all come as a huge shock. You wrote last June that he was still "high functioning". It is a tragedy how alcoholism can take control.
Remember that you stayed long past when you thought you should leave. You tried! That's all you could do so I do hope you are able to lay down any guilt you might have been carrying.
Please take good care of yourself, rest when you can, be sure to eat (even if you don't feel like it sometimes). There is hope on the horizon for you and your children. It won't always be this dark.

I'm so very sorry for your family's grief.
Locally we have an organization that works with grieving children. They have groups that gatherer and talk or do art therapy, dependent on age/ability. The children support each other. Maybe there is something like that where you are for your littles?
I wish you peace
