Never want to feel this way again
Never want to feel this way again
I drank last night. So in addition to a hangover, I am full of shame and sadness. I act like such a fool when I drink, and really upset my kids. Please tell me I can do this, I can stay sober. I want to and I have to. Thank you.
You can do it. I did and I was a drunk for thirty years.
A bad one, too.
For me it took action. That came in the form of AA. It helped me immensely.
I found rooms full of people with the same goal as me, to quit drinking.
I came here and got involved.
But most of all I learned I never had to get drunk again if I didn't take that first drink.
It wasn't the tenth one that was getting me drunk, it was the first.
You can do it. There are other methods of recovery, too. I hope you find one that works for you.
I couldn't do it alone and tried for ten years.
Waking up the next day full of guilt, shame, fear and anxiety.
All the solemn oaths of swearing it off, promising to myself I would never drink again. They never worked. I took action and I hope you take it.
And remember, you never have to drink again.

Great. Now start taking care of yourself. Drink lots of water and eat healthy. You need to get back on track and show your children that you can be a good mom. No more alcohol! Your children deserve a sober mother! You can't undo the damage but, you can go forward from this moment on. Get serious about your recovery. Do everything possible to stay sober.
Thank you so much Chloe and Dee😃
Dee, I’ve been playing the tape forward, reading here, and meditating to help my anxiety. I’m going to post here when I get cravings, instead of trying to do it on my own.
I am also going to start a gratitude journal and be more consistent with meditation.

Have you thought about a recovery action plan?

You absolutely can do it!
Maybe pick something concrete you can do to help you in this journey right now today. If there is alcohol in your house, get rid of it. If there is someone you need to talk to be accountable, do that. If there is a meeting to go to, go.
Best of luck with your day
