Help wanted

It’s officially the weekend and I feel that little urge inside of me. I do not want to drink, but I know how the cycle goes. It’s all I’ve thought about the entire day. Not necessarily about getting drunk, but how am I going to stay sober. Does that make sense? Help.

I thought about how I was going to stay sober every day for probably the first 90 days of recovery. That's how I stayed sober. If I had thought about drinking every day, I'd have drank.

Say this to yourself until you mean it: I want to be sober more than I want to drink.

in much the same vein that thinking about drinking leads to actual drinking.....can you take your thoughts of staying sober into action?

Ditto for me. Its good you are thinking about being sober. You can do it. First few weekends are very tough.

Have you read any of the action plan links Siyo?

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...very-plan.html (What exactly is a recovery plan?)

they're specifically about staying sober

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I am trying very hard to focus on being in the here and now and not let my thoughts focus on drinking.

Thank you so much for responding. I don’t have an action plan, yet, but it sounds like something I definitely need.

Makes perfect sense! Not picking up the first one makes perfect sense, too.
