Unfair!

One of the things I still struggle with is unfairness.

I do my shopping at the local store - it's close and I'm in there most days.

Today another customer said they thought I put something in my pocket.....

I don't know who it was, or why they said that - but I proved that I didn't have anything I didn't pay for either on my person or in the scooter.

It upset me. My reputation is important to me...I'm having a little trouble letting it go

That's something I need to work on...but I'm not thinking of drinking

Just one of those unfair things we have to wear from time to time...we can get through them, sober

I'm sorry that happened. You do so much to help others its absurd to think anyone would accuse you of dishonesty!!

Thanks Dazee.

I know I didn't do anything wrong so my conscience is clear - I just wanted to make the point that we can get through stuff like this

How weird. I would have been upset too, Dee.

Good thing about being sober is that I wouldn't take it in and make it about me being a terrible person and therefore I deserve this type of thing. I'm more easily able to shrug these days.

Maybe that person has some mental issues.

Dee, that's awful. I'm really sorry that happened to you You work so hard being fair to everyone, I can only imagine how hurtful that was to you. Perhaps the person who made the accusation was trying to feel self-important?

That's pretty bad...I pity that person who accused you. They need to get a life. I hope they apologized profusely for their stupidity. It would have bothered me too.

Xoxo Dee we all know you would never do such a thing. Sounds like that's more the accusers problem than yours. You're a good person and don't deserve that accusation on your reputation. But I know you already know what you know in your heart is all that matters. Sending hugs.

Bummer, Dee. Why do people sometimes go out of their way to be jerks?

Do you think the other customer singled you out for some reason?

We have to deal with people like that in life sometimes brother. The important thing is you know who you are and so do the important people in your life.

It would've bothered me too, Dee. You have such a sense of justice and fairness that it's ironic you'd be accused of such a thing.

They were probably the ones stealing and they blamed you to deflect attention from themselves. Hmph. I'm sorry that happened Dee. You are much loved and respected here.

An incident like that would probably replay in my head for a couple of days, until I finally got bored with it....irritating, but still temporary

That's really sad. I agree that anger is a huge trigger to drink, but we know you are past and above that.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, Dee. I would have been so upset. You're such an awesome, honest person and I'm so sorry that you had to go through that.

I appreciate you sharing it with us, that we can get through stressful times without drinking. It's just so wrong that you had to experience that. It is so unfair.

Thanks guys.

I don't know who made the allegation or why. Some people react badly to the scooter - maybe that was it.

Getting over it now

yep, anger and having an overly developed sense of justice or fairness are among my biggest struggles.

I know it passes, but I feel ya on this one.

As for your reputation, it is beyond stellar with me. Hope the rest of your night/day (I always forget about our multiple time zones) is a good one!

Dee, I used to work in a field where shoplifters would point out a regular person shopping and accuse them of stealing than walk out with there stolen items when security and staff's attention was on the person they pointed out. It's very effective and sadly more common than most think. Sorry you had to experience that!
