Cool A worthy weekender Feb 19

How many times must I make the decision not to drink? Once? A hundred? Ten thousand?

How many times must I make the decision to care if I drank? For me it's ten times the number not to drink.

I lose faith sometimes in myself to be able to feel worthy enough not to drink. That's an incredibly silly statement. But a real one none the less. The value I feel I am worth is directly linked to my feeling strong enough or have the desire enough to abstain. For me it's not if I can resist picking up that drink sitting over there. It's do I care.

I care. I care immensely. If you are reading this I suspect you do too!

Welcome to your sober weekend!

*Ring Ring*

Ken

My birthday weekend, gonna be spending it what a consider my hometown abroad. A tiny little town by the beach, it'll be cold but beautiful, hopefully no rain. A lot of liquor will be flowing but I've had my fill, no worries. I'm getting real good at crushing coca-cola and fending off pesky questions. And I love saving on the tab.

Happy weekend yall.

My abuse of alcohol affected my life in so many ways. The day it caused me to lose my job was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

I cared about myself enough that I made the decision that day I was never going to drink ever again. I wish I had cared sooner, but I was still in the indestructible mindset. I wasted far too many years of my life. Fortunately I still have many good years left. Going to make them good years sober

Well my alarm just went off. When I have to wake up I always wake up before the alarm. Alarm set for 0615 - wake up at 0607...
Taking sister to airport, then driving to Maryland to visit aunt who is recovering from stroke in a rehab unit.

Nothing like driving to the airport among the morning commuters to test one's soul. I'm in!

I'm in - interesting topic, Ken. I have many thoughts, which I will share later, after some caffeine.

You know that awkward moment when you get a heart attack at work because you can't find your important files on the computer which you spent ages typing out so that they look pretty. And then you realise that you are still logged on as the previous user and you sink back into the chair...

More coffee is needed today.

I want to stay in town tomorrow night so I can go out with my friends. I found a 'perfect' little hotel online - not too expensive and very close to my friends place. As usual I booked it and then read the reviews online, and they are pretty awful. So we'll see...

Mind you, the last time I stayed in a place with dreadful online reviews I turned out to be pleasantly surprised...

I think sometimes people write bad reviews for fun. I've been pleasantly surprised at times, and also disappointed when a place didn't live up to glowing reviews. If it's only one night,, you can survive almost anything. Except maybe bedbugs. That's bad.

Here in the states, we have an online "bed bug registry." You can check to see if a hotel you are going to stay in has had bed bugs reported. It's no guarantee, but it's something.

My dad had bedbugs in his apartment in Chicago a few years ago. It was a complete nightmare. I was actually there right before he figured it out, but thankfully, I didn't bring them home with me. He had to move out for a couple of weeks while they fumigated the apartment. And it was very expensive. He bought a new mattress and everything. Yuck. He tried to blame me for bringing them into his house. But he was already being bit when I got there, he just didn't realize what it was. We figure he brought them home from a taxi - only thing we could think of.
