Day 1 and hurting...

Oh the horrors of the morning after. The shakes have started early, woke from my drunken slumber at 4am, a phone full of Msgs and calls made the night before. My place is trashed with empty wine bottles and dishes and mess everywhere. Apparently i thought cooking pasta was a good idea at some stage last night..So embarrassed and hating myself right now. I honestly don't feel I'm ready to start today alcohol free. If I had money I would drink that's the truth. Just to not feel like this.

"The shakes" are not good, Sean. Maybe you need a couple days at detox to take your mind off your misery?

Sean I've been in that position before i felt awful super nervous scared shaking crying alone

I want to tell you that my life got better I remember thinking why am I doing this ? it was pretty simple I had enough of torturing myself I was well & truly done I can't drink responsibly nor can I safely at all believe me I tried lol

I lost the imaginary war I was fighting it was only against myself

If I can part any of my wisdom itd be commit yourself to this its going to feel crappy at first getting through the initial months but you will also have amazing days where you get the real you back

Stick with us ask a mod for help writing up a plan & know truly know it won't be like this forever winter will turn to spring soon enough

Your friend Soberwolf

boy do I remember a lot of those kind of experiences.

I'm super grateful that these horrors are in my past.

May this be the start of a life of sobriety for you.

You can be free of this awfulness.

I am so sorry that you are struggling and hurting, Sean.

Have you checked out these links that were posted in one of your threads? A solid plan would be very helpful:

Sean, you can get through those feelings and stay sober. I know it's hard, but you can choose to make today Day 1 and you never have to feel like this again.

I don't want to live like this a day longer. Life's challenging enough sober, but when I add alcohol it's just catastrophic. I commit today to feeling awful and as time passes things will get better. Today I am going to clean my trashed place and just ride it out. A friend from aa is coming over today and we are going to do a meeting. Thanks everyone for your support

Sure, keep on drinking, it sounds like a lot of fun.
You can stop today and never have to feel like this again. You can do it, but you've got to dig deep. There hasn't been one morning on my relatively short journey in which I've regretted not drinking the night before, that's for sure.

I hope you're feeling a little better by now, Sean. These awful feelings will pass and you'll be on your way to healing - and a whole new life. No more miserable mornings filled with regret & guilt. Let us know how the meeting goes. We're with you.

We gotta start somewhere Sean, and I know it's rough now but pushing through to that light at the end of the tunnel, and yes there is a light no matter who faint.

You can do this, don't let alcohol make you feel like this ever again!!

If I had hit the lottery anytime before about 30 days sober I'd probably still be drinking!

We tell newcomers to AA the first meeting isn't the most important, it's the second one.

How are you today, how was the meeting??

I am right here with you on this journey. I have spent far too much money on booze. Its time to change.

Money and time wasted. Most of us on here have been right where you are right now, it does get better with a little time and energy.

How are you feeling?

Sean I know the first day of withdrawals is not nice but it gets better . I have very fresh memories of my first day just over 2 weeks ago . You can do it .
