Shaken up but safe and out
This morning at 5:30 am my husband came in told me he was feeling like he could have another seizure so he needed to go get a little alcohol to relax. When I woke up at 8, he was hammered. I got nervous and told him I wanted to leave when the boys woke up. He started getting in my face so I quickly threw stuff in a bag. He came and cornered me in the back room and put his hand around my throat. I said to stop or I'd scream and he said to stop or he'd break my windpipe. Just then my son walked in and he stopped. I'm out, and I'm never going back. That was God's last warning to me (and I thought I didn't believe anymore). That was my last chance to get out. Never going back no matter what that means. Not crying. I feel strong and it's time to do what I have to do.
I'm so sorry but glad you and kids are safe and out of the situation for good.
Emmy---I know you have left the house many times before. I suggest that it is very important to get your support on board---family, lawyer?, police report, restraining order?, etc.
As you know--the trick is not to cave when he hangs his head in sorrow and wants you back, again.
Please follow the advice of professionals. Stay strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so creepy when his eyes go after he's had liquor. And it's humiliating being scared like that. I used to blame his drunken behavior on past traumas but there is no excuse. He knows when he drinks that this can happen.
There really never is an excuse for abuse, Emmy! Certainly you have done nothing to deserve the way you have been treated by your husband all this time.
I'm so very happy you and the boys are safe! Please continue to believe in yourself and take good care!

And he stopped when your son came in. He was able to control it. That's the part that tells me, he is so sick and enjoys the control and power over you.
Glad you are out. You deserve so much better. Hope this "experience" rebuilds your relationship with God too.
