Drinking HEALTHY in Sobriety

Hi- I know there have been some threads here before on this topic but since I haven't seen it pop up I'm awhile, I figured I'd start another one.

What is everyone's favorite creative drink that they turn to now that you're sober? Mine is grapefruit juice and sparkling water. Tastes like a cocktail and is my favorite go to drink when out with friends.

Others?

Fruit tea! It's amazing, actually. I used to have endless cups of black coffee and cigarettes in the morning to fight off a hangover. No wonder I felt terrible! Now I have a coffee or a cup of tea before I go to work and then fruit teas when I am in the office. It keeps me calm, helps with the cravings for cigarettes, and I get to try some interesting new flavours, which I think helps me creative.

I enjoy lemon balm tea from traditional medicines with organic honey.

I also make fresh lemonade with lemons, honey and pure maple syrup.

I enjoy juices, that are pure, not from concentrate, and 100% juice...like organic carrot juice, apple or orange.

I love coffee, and have 2 cups in the morning with hazelnut creamer and milk. I like folgers half caffeine.

I usually have coffee in the evening as well when I feel myself in need of a pick me up.

To good health.

I'm into my camomile tea, usually with a bit of honey. I love the taste of coffee but it tends to make my anxiety worse so tend to stick to the odd cup a week of decaf.

I seem to drink ridiculous amounts of normal tea at work though.

Ginger Ale / Ginger Beer is a good one... lots of "microbrew" ginger ales available these days. Also root beer and birch beer.

Kombucha - yes!!

This New Year's Eve I had apple cider and 7-up. Dang, that was tasty!!

I have a big clump of lemon grass out the back so I'm getting creative with that. I like coconut milk, lemongrass syrup and lemon made into a slushy sorbet type drink (it's summer here). It's delicious, but has more calories than a big mac.

Endless coffee from my Nespresso maker and soda water with lime. Also, an occasional ginger ale or coconut water when I want to go wild.

Kombucha is wonderful.... and very good for you - particularly good for helping sustain a good 'gut' balance of flora. After years of drinking, we have messed up our intestinal systems pretty significantly. Kombucha can help restore and revitalize.

I tried to post a link but I don't have enough posts here yet to include links!

Google "Kombucha" and you'll find a lot of explanations.

I like coffee in the morning, club soda with fresh lemon slices during the day and Celestial Seasonings Sleepy-time tea in the evening.

one thing to consider, however... is that kombucha - as a fermented beverage - DOES have a very slight alcohol content.

So, it may not be an appropriate or positive alternative for some in recovery.
