Has anyone seen the film: Flight with Denzel Washington?

I watched this yesterday.
I really enjoyed seeing so much of Alcoholics Anonymous woven into the film.
If you haven't seen it yet...check it out!
Have a good day everyone.

Day 28
Hi! Yes I have seen it. Saw it on the big screen before I got sober. Thought it was a good movie. 34 days sober now and brought it home to watch on DVD last night so hubby could see it too. He left the room mid movie. All of the alcohol abuse was too much for him. Too close to home he said and too fresh in our lives. I really didn't mean for it to upset him. I guess I should have seen that coming. Feel bad for bringing it home now...
I haven't been to an AA meeting yet. Scared to go, but if its anything like the movie, maybe it's not so scary?

LOL, I finally saw it a week ago, loved it, up until the last scene.
Wanna know why? The lead investigator asked Whip his "opinion" about something (don't want to spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it). His crackerjack lawyer should have been objecting all OVER the place to the improper question.
Don't ever take a lawyer to the movies with you to see courtroom dramas. They will ruin it for you.
But the AA stuff, and everything else, was very accurate. Liked the movie, as a whole, very much.

I saw it last night, great movie, the message really spoke to me. Wonderful performance by Denzel too, overall just hit home, great movie for anyone who has "come clean" under tough circumstances.
PS - Lexie, I believe at the end it was NOT a trial, just a hearing. Not sure if that makes a difference!

I'm probably in the minority, but I am not sure if I will end up watching this movie soon. But I am glad to hear that it's got lots of thumbs up from those in the alcoholic and recovery circles!
I have not seen it yet. Did anyone notice if there were any parallels to Lyle P's story found in the back of the Big Book "Grounded"?

It was a great movie, although my husband was quick to point out the unlikely hood of landing the plane they way Denzel did!!
Did the movie portray anything like that degree of humility?
Funny, but I was think about this earlier. I saw the film months ago and if I remember correctly, there were no depictions of Denzel's character going through withdrawals. His character was portrayed as a heavy daily drinker and abuser.
However, overall I found the film very powerful (even if the crash landing was a little far-fetched).

However, at the end of the film . . . (you will have to watch to find out ).
Spoiler Alert!!!
The movie was about the FAA crash investigation, not the criminal charges. He was attempting to evade responsibility, and could have gotten away with it. But then he admitted to drinking the bottles of vodka found empty on the plane. He was hungover and intoxicated during the FAA hearing, not in recovery. But, like so many of us, he couldn't do it anymore, done lying and playing the game.
That was it, they didn't show the criminal charges. He found AA in prison.

I wasn't that impressed to be honest, I love Denzel Washington in most films but this one i found a little dull. I was going to comment on the film there but would have been a huge spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen it!
