Spoiler Alert!!!
The movie was about the FAA crash investigation, not the criminal charges. He was attempting to evade responsibility, and could have gotten away with it. But then he admitted to drinking the bottles of vodka found empty on the plane. He was hungover and intoxicated during the FAA hearing, not in recovery. But, like so many of us, he couldn't do it anymore, done lying and playing the game.
That was it, they didn't show the criminal charges. He found AA in prison.
