Seeking others with prior history of meth and/or ecstasy abuse

Hello,

I just found this forum last night, this is my first post. I am 27 years old and five years removed from meth, ecstasy, and alcohol abuse. After being relatively problem free (other than transitional periods, which are to be expected) over the course of my sobriety, I have been experiencing some unfamiliar anxieties over the last 9 months.

Namely, I have become reclusive and have a hard time entering even regular social interactions. I drive to an appointment, or to a restaurant, or a friends house only to circle the building and go back home. I was doing this for a few weeks before I even realized it. I had been justifying it with absurd statements like "there's no parking" or "they probably wanted to cancel".

Very recently, I have had increasingly severe migraines and am beginning to suspect my psychological condition.

I was really curious to see if anyone has experience delayed problems after a prolonged period of abstinence from meth and ecstasy, and if so if there were steps that could be taken to address them.

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

I was an ectasy user many years ago & a meth addict 6 years ago. I haven't touched either of them since. I haven't had any physical conditions except a strange vision problem which I don't understand & passes after 10 minutes.
Because of the severe effect of meth on the brain it may pay to talk to your doctor about it if you feel you can.
I sometimes wonder if my health will be affected sometime in life from this harsh drug.
Welcome to SR

Thanks for your response,

I don't have a doctor I see regularly, but I will pursue some professional advice.

Find an antidepressant that will help you. Meth decreases the serotonin in your brain which makes you happy. So you need to find an ssri to uptake that to get your levels to normal again. Paxil Cr worked for me and it took me 3 months to find that one. Zoloft worked really good too however I received a massive migraine after beginning my dose and the dr took me off of it and we went through what literally seemed like 20-30 different ones till I found this one. I never felt distanced from society when I was recovering and I have been off of meth for a good 8 years now. Congrats on your recovery I hope you stay off of it. I started taking meth because it made me feel happy and helped my feelings after this girl and I was forced to break up and never speak again. Which being 17 she was the love of my life.
