Day 8
Well the chocolate phase has officially started.. No physical symptoms of withdrawal. Just the usual emotional stuff.
I went to see my counselor on Thursday. That went OKish. Will be seeing him again next Thursday. This morning I attended my first official AA meeting. I must admit, I HATED IT. I was never comfortable. I don't want to go again, so I am going to try and attend the Wednesday afternoon sessions on another island where I am not as known. Not going to get into the details, but I do not believe that the group here will help me in any way. I couldn't wait for it to finish.
ANYHOW!
I just came from the grocery with my bag full of chocolate goodies and stuff to cook (I'm cooking up a pot of caribbean split peas soup at the moment). I am doing my usual Saturday chores, and spread it out so I am occupied all day. Tonight, I am going to continue building some new music for work tomorrow. In all, life is good, I feel really good at the moment. One day at a time!!!

Day 8, well done dude!
Man, the chocolate phase...if there's one thing I think every alcoholic shares (ha, yes, as well as booze) is the chocolate phase. Am on day 28 today, and I am happy to tell you that I have left this phase behind. Although the need for pineapple is bizarrely persistent. I've never eaten it before in my life. Now I'm mainlining it three times daily. Weird.
Keep it up hun, am rootin for you

Thanks!!
Hi Ovrock
You sound positive and determined. Congrats on day 8, I hope the other meeting is a better fit.
I went cold turkey on sugar nearly four weeks ago after being 9 months sober , I figured that I could forgo the need for sugary comfort type foods at this stage.
I used to make free split pea soup a lot what is in Carribean split pea soup?

So that's what happened today!
I have been eating so well lately (no sugary snacks at all!) but today I ate 2 fudge pop-tarts and a chocolate Cadbury Egg.... It was soooo good but a bit later I felt ill.
Not going to lie it was worth it lol !
