Acceptance
Acceptance
Came across this this morning in my readings. It spoke to me on many levels in my recovery and thought I'd share it with you all.
A Thai master named Achaan Cha said:
"Try to do everything with a mind that lets go.
If you let go a little you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.
If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom.
Your struggles with the world will have come to an end."
It may seem counterintuitive, but acceptance has its own transformative magic, and can actually change things. For example: Have you ever noticed how hard it is to change your mate, while a little more acceptance goes a long way towards transforming your relationship?

So very true, Fitz!..... I'm going to add that to my little box of quotes- love it! Here's a few for you along the same lines:
The greatest happiness you can have is knowing that you do not necessarily require happiness.* ~William Saroyan
Happiness is never stopping to think if you are.* ~Palmer Sondreal
Happiness is a function of accepting what is.* ~Werner Erhard

Hi Coolfitz,
Since I was 18 I read and tried to follow Eastern thought, took myself to India when I was 18 in search of God /enlightenment.
Forty years later I have had a spiritual awakening through AA. I have let go, surrendered to my HP. AA is a program of action.
My point being, in light of your recent relapse what are you doing differently this time around to prevent you relapsing again.

If you let go completely, you will know complete peace & freedom.
Love that, it is true. When I let go of the idea that I could ever drink again, under any circumstance, I feel finally free, peace. Content.
I buried that part of my life, it is over. I can live again.
Thanks, Fitz
