The time is now...
Hi Everyone,
I have lurked around this site on and off for about 4 years. I have finally decide to make and effort to improve my health and quit drinking. This site is the only support I have. For many reasons, I cannot attend any type of recovery meetings where I live. I feel very alone and I am grateful to have the support of SR & read that there are others who are going throught the same problems that I am.
I am tired of having alcohol in my life!

Welcome the active side and making that very difficult decision. Now that you have doesn't it feel like weight has been lifted? :ghug3
Lots of folks decide to live a life, instead of a lie with alcohol. You already know that from reading here. And many make it with SR as their only support. We are here for you like SR was here for us. Welcome the to only group where quitting is a virtue, and not quitting the vice, a vice in itself.

Welcome LuckyGirl
There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - if you decide to add something extra to reading and posting here, here's some links to some of the main players - many of them are not meeting based

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.
glad to have you with us

Welcome to our family, luckygirl. I felt a huge relief when I came here - I had no one in my life to share my problems with - no one who truly understood what I was going through. SR has meant the world to me, & I know you'll feel the same. Glad to see you posting!
Hi Luckygirl and Mitch, I joined SR a couple of years ago and once I stopped coming here after a few days, I was back to my old lifestyle. This time around, I've realized that the more I put into it, the more I get out of it. Stick around and see for yourself, there's a very supportive group of people here, all ages and walks of life.
