Just got a sponsor!

After a lot of bitching and moaning with my mom and myself i decided to go to a meeting today. I met someone at a meeting last night and he took me under his wing. He couldn't sponsor me because he's not through the steps yet but he introduced me to some of the older (luckily not too old, im only 21 after all) members who had been through all the steps and one guy in particular i identified with a lot. He explained things in a way i could understand. He said our problems start before we pick up anything at all. He said he felt like an outsider since he was 4 or 5. I felt like he knew i wanted a sponsor but he never offered. i guess we need to ask for ourselves or its not real. anyway after a few minutes of dancing around it i managed to say i needed help and asked and he said yes. He gave me a big book and I'm actually excited to read it! I havent been excited to read a book (comics dont count) or really been excited about anything at all in awhile. i guess my point is :day6:

WTG Brainsoup. I can remember when I got my first sponsor I always felt like I had a "friend." something about it makes you feel more powerful. I recently went back to my old sponsor and I felt the same way again!

Blessings and Merry Christmas!

Thats awesome that you made the connection with a group and a sponsor. Be sure to take full advantage of the help and don't take it for granted. Finding that first sponsor is a special connection. Best wishes in your recovery!
