What a Lady and a life.
What a Lady and a life.
Mum is not only wonderful for her longevity, but her whole life has been one of love and enjoyment, hard work and staying positive.....even at times of utter hardship and despair. Seeing her dad killed by a car outside their front gate in about 1922, was a terrible experience, but she went to help out a large family after school, and on Sundays cooked their roast dinner. For this she proudly gave her mum all she earned....2 shillings and a cabbage. She brought the cows in for milking, and helped her mum get ready for the loads of washing to be done, which supported the family without their breadwinner.
She worked up to 75 when after breaking her collarbone badly, she realised that cooking professionally was over for her. Friends and those in need were delighted to get her gifts of food, or invites to dinner, and the night I got there....she had my favourite meal in the oven.....pasties!!! And each one was as good as the ones she made for me over the past 60 years.
What wonderful lessons she has taught me, mainly by her example, and she has shown time after time, that doing a small service for someone, without making a noise about it....means more than a grand gesture with all the hoopla and grandstanding. She calls herself "a simple woman", but I think she is wonderful, inspiring and my guiding light and proudly call her "Mum".
Her pets, named after her mum and sister.
Her garden has given her great joy, and lots of pleasure to many.
will have snaps on a following post.

Mum's pride and joy, her gardens.
View from her lounge window.
The steep front of her house, mountain goat country.
Gumtrees in the State forest behind her back fence. NOW you know why I am afraid of bushfires each summer.

That's a nice dedication to your Mum!
A Virtuous Woman is more precious
Than tons and tons of gold
She keeps her husband content
And teaches her children the wisdom to grow old,
She awakes in the morning
Adorning herself well
With modesty, humility
Leading her family away from hell,
So Love her and treat her kindly
With respect and patience, too
Cause God has sent her into your life
To be a friend to you.

No, the husband's job is to keep himself content !! where have I read "he keeps her wife content"? nowhere!! so, to each his own, I say!!
Sorry just had a "moment" here... but I liked the rest of the poem
LOVELY garden. What a wonderful human being. Thanks for sharing this Jadmack!!

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady (are you SURE she's 99? -- she looks 20 years younger -- or more!)
Amen to that.
Thanks for sharing, Jadmack.

Thanks girls, yes mum is all this and more.
She does look younger than she is, but if HealingWillCome knocks her age down another few years, my mum will be younger than I am.
She and dad were married 37 years, and he adored her to the day he suddenly died.

Your mum sounds like a beautiful person and she is gorgeous too! She looks amazing and I agree, at least 20 years younger! Her gardens are beautiful. Are they azaleas? Yes, the bushfire season is approaching! I can see why you're scared about that JM with all the gumtrees around her house!
Jadmack,
How blessed you are to have her.
she is beautiful, and I see the love of life in her eyes. Isn't it something, what she did as a young girl- worked and helped the family, and others? Wish more people instilled that in their children these days. it would be a much better world.
Thank you for sharing. She has a wonderful life. Sweet pets, lovely garden, great cooking skills, and a wonderful daughter-you!
She certainly has and still does make the world a better place, doesn't she?
She is sooooo pretty, too! Those sweet eyes!

Oh jadmack, thank you so much for sharing your dear sweet Mum's story and pictures. This makes sense, to be raised by such a strong lovely soul-that's why you're so endlessly loving and funny as the day is long!
(((Jadmack))) - what a very special mum you have, and thanks for the pics. She sounds like a true treasure to everyone who knows and loves her....and she's got a fantastic daughter, too!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Jadmack what a wonderful and beatiful woman. She is just as beautiful on the inside. What a love she has for life and all those around her. Her gardens are astounding (I'm a gardner and love seeing other people's gardens). What a view to wake up to, to see all day and to go to bed to. Thank you for sharing all the beautiful things about your mum.
