Where I am at, 6 months later
Where I am at, 6 months later
I just realized I hit my 6 month mark Sunday, go me For those of you just considering sobriety, let me tell you I feel great! I was petrified that I couldn't quit. I truly believed I would never have fun again. I thought I would lose all of my friends. All of that was b.s.. Every fear I had about quitting was the drunk in me telling me fibs. I have been on vacation in yellowstone, being sober only made it so much better. I have been to Vegas and had a blast. 2 of my closest friends followed my lead and took the sobriety plunge (which in itself is a nice reward). I don't miss the mooches that only came around for free liquor, and I have met amazing people who are living sober. I go to dinner, and parties, and the beach, all without a beer in my hand, and it is wonderful. I have had some pain, and some fear to experience sober, and it was a trip! I am grateful for ALL of my un-numbed emotions and the coping skills I am gaining.
I started at age 14. I quit at age 42. That's 2/3 of my life drunk and drugging, all of my adult life. It's time now for me to grow up, spiritually and emotionally. I am now heading towards a life more authentic, where I am in control. Don't be afraid to join me o.k.? Sobriety really and truly is lovely if you give it a chance. It beats being controlled by a substance hands down.
Sorry, just needed to add THANK YOU SR. You people truly rock and have changed my life xoxoxoxoxoxooxox
