Ever get a song stuck in your head...?
Ever get a song stuck in your head...?
...and you realize it's your HP making a subtle hint to you?
I was reading my old journals and found a page from several years ago (still with XABF) where I had gotten this song stuck in my head, for those of you who are old enough to remember Linda Ronstadt:
"...Feeling better now that we're through
Feeling better 'cause I'm over you
I learned my lesson, it left a scar
Now I see how you really are
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby you're no gooooood"
(I've been walking around the house singing it all day today, much to the delight of the dogs, who think it's a new happy mom-game)
I only wish I'd listened to those lyrics sooner than I did!!
Love & hugs,
GiveLove

i had the song Wonderwall by Oasis stuck in my head for the longest time. it was during the period when i still believed that i could personally save my a.b. i know different now, but this song still makes me think of him. here's a part of it....
And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You're my wonderwall
And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Back in the day shortly before my divorce, that Guns n roses song had just come out, "I used to love her, but i had to kill her". I heard it once and had it stuck in my head like crazy, except in my version it was "i used to love him, but i had to kill him".
"....he b**ched so much, he drove me nuts..."
"....he b**ched so much, he drove me nuts..."
For the longest time this past year, everytime I would hear "How to Save a Life" by the Fray I would think of my sister:
Let him know that you know best
'Cause after all you do know best
Try to steadfast his defence
Without granting innocence
Lay out a list of what is wrong
Things you told him all along
Pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears you
And where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere alone in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up
With you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Let him know that you know best
'Cause after all you do know best
Try to steadfast his defence
Without granting innocence
Lay out a list of what is wrong
Things you told him all along
Pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears you
And where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere alone in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up
With you all night
Had I known how to save a life

This was my theme song:
Stupid Boy-Keith Urban
Well, she was precious like a flower
She grew wild, wild but innocent
A perfect prayer in a desperate hour
She was everything beautiful and different
Stupid boy, you can't fence that in
Stupid boy, it's like holding back the wind
she laid her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never even knew she had a choice and that's what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
Stupid boy, stupid boy
So what made you think you could take a life
And just push it push it around
I guess you build yourself up so high
You had to take her and break her down
she laid her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never even knew she had a choice and that's what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
You stupid boy
Oh, you always had to be right but now you've lost
The only thing that ever made you feel alive
Yeah, yeah
Well, she laid her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
Yes, ya did
She never even knew she had a choice and that's what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can't
You stupid boy, oh, I'm the same old
Same old stupid boy
It took awhile for her to figure out she could run
But when she did, she was long gone
Long gone, long gone
Ah, she's gone
Stupid Boy-Keith Urban
Well, she was precious like a flower
She grew wild, wild but innocent
A perfect prayer in a desperate hour
She was everything beautiful and different
Stupid boy, you can't fence that in

I used to hear the words to "Don't Fence me In..."
Let me ride to the ridge where the west commences,
Gaze at the moon until I lose my senses..
Can't look at hobbles
and I can't stand fences!
Don't fence me in!
He used to corral my thinking and actions with words.. and after awhile I wouldn't know what to say or where to turn because everywhere there was a dang fence of words he made to stop me from...
doing..
thinking...
and being who I am.
It was like the same thing I used to see when I put a horse being weaned in the round pen... made me feel like I was running around trying to get out and the fence was there.. too high to jump and no Momma to give me guidance!
No one will be doing that to me again. He took his dang fence with him.

Today the one in my head is an old bluegrass/gospel
Keep on the sunny side
Always on the sunny side
Keep on the sunny side of life...
This comes from the benefit concert for "O Brother Wherefore Art Thou"

I have a new favorite these days, by American Idol "loser" Chris Daughtry:
"Over You"
Now that it’s all said and done
I can’t believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I fell too far, was in way too deep
Guess I let you get the best of me
(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, time ago!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally gettin’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!
You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say,
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of others opened up
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for me
(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, time ago!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally getting’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces

There's a dark and a troubled side of life
There's a bright, there's a sunny side, too
Tho' we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view
CHORUS:
Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us ev'ryday, it will brighten all the way
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life.
The storm and it's fury broke today
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear;
Clouds and storms will, in time, pass away
The sun again will shine bright and clear
Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Tho' the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our Saviour away
Who keepeth everyone in His care.
ps I am an agnostic...but cannot help but be lifted by this song!
There's a bright, there's a sunny side, too

There's a great version of that song on the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack. I get it stuck in my head too...and I'm not a very religious person either. Funny huh?

I'm usually not big on that style of music so much, but I really like that whole soundtrack, too.
The movie was great, too. I love the Cohen brothers movies.
Especially 'raising arizona' and 'the big lebowski'.

i get this neil young song stuck in my head sometimes when i think about my mom...
"did i see you down at the edge of town
with your mother in so much pain?
i was almost there at the top of the stairs
with her screaming in the rain...
did she wake you up
to tell you that
it was only a change of plans?
dream up, dream up, let it fill your cup
with the promise of a man"
i love him... *sigh*

I've read this is called an "ear worm" (getting a song stuck in your head). I find it distracting, annoying and sometimes upsetting.
The best cure for that for me is to even THINK of ...
"It's a small world after all"
Aaaarrrgggghhhhhh~!!!!
But at least, I CHANGED ear worms.
Like a needle in the brain, it is.

Being a musition, I always have somthing playing in my head and right now its a song that I wrote called Tracklines.
(chorus)
"(How can you) Waste you life away
With a knocked up girl, baby on the way
Just roll another joint
To got you through another day
How do you justify it
Dont look me in the face and give me you lies
So pull up you sleeves man its summer time
And show the whole world your shiney new
Tracklines"
