Appointment set with doctor!
I'm happy to say that I've finally got a Dr. appointment. I have not had a GP in 2 years - after I quit my old job I ran out of money thanks to alcoholism, I did not have insurance. I have not drank alcohol in almost 2 years, and have been continuing to try and manage my anxiety on my own. I've tried everything: exercise, meditation, herbal tea, deep breathing, underwater basket weaving, and most importantly long-term sobriety.
Yes, my symptoms have improved - but without the magic elixir (alcohol) I have still found it difficult to navigate some situations. I have made positive steps but it's been painful and difficult.
I have an appointment next Wednesday to discuss some options with my new doctor. I am sure this will not be a quick fix but I am happy to get started. I plan to be open and honest about my medical history and start down a path that will help me find a solution. Thanks for the support!

Thanks. I have a few general nagging issues - but most importantly I want to see if he can help with recommending some help for my anxiety. Maybe he will refer me to a psychiatrist, which would be great. He is just a GP so I am not expecting him to put me on anti-depressants or anything, but I do know that I need to start somewhere. I am trying to keep my expectations reasonable but hopeful.
PS - of course, I'm anxious about my upcoming visit! Arrrgh!

I had a little trouble with the meds too ,I had to try several before I found the correct med .
The right meds can change your life totally .
Im not on any meds now ,on a daily basis .
But if the need arouse id get back on Zoloft .
Meds are a better alternative than drinking ,Drinking never solved anything for me .
Drinking created problems ,where none existed .
