Going to a meeting tomorrow
a Big Book meeting, but I do not have a book. It's a long weekend to go through. I have to abstain for a week before I can get Vivitrol. A week is but a drop in the bucket of the time most of us have on this earth. I want to make it, and that's why I'm going to the meeting.
Hope you all are well,
GJ

Hang in their your going to be ok! Go to the public library and get the blue book! Until you can get to a meeting and get one. If I had one I'd send it to you. I wish you all the best and remember just take it one day at a time and you will be ok!

Most meetings have extra Big Books to use
and often you can buy one there for around 6 dollars.
I am so pleased to see you are going!
Let us know how it works out, k?

Hello everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend. I also wanted to thank each one of you for your responses and your support. I hope I can help you guys somehow too if you need it.
Things are going good so far. Those meetings are interesting. Not exactly what I expected. There were A LOT of people there. Young folks, old folks and everything in between. Most everyone seemed to already know one another so I felt a little shy about talking. They didn't have any extra books but someone let me use theirs. I do intend to go back. I have to keep going. Nothing else has worked so far.
Thanks again for your sentiments,
GJ

Daisy,
Good for you for going. Keep it up and you'll get to know those people too and then you can reach out to the newcomer who comes in and doesn't know anyone. That is how it works. I know here in Houston the Big Book costs $7.25 no tax and can be bought at our AA Intergroup. As has been said you can also read it online and order it online either through the AA website or through Amazon or a similar place.
It is good reading and if you're alcoholic you will probably find yourself in those pages countless times and wonder who's been looking over your shoulder your whole life LOL!
Hugs,
Kellye
