Is It or Isn't It?
I know over the years I have been sober I have heard lots of debate on whether there is a "genetic link" for alcoholism and other addictions.

Does it matter? Chicken and egg thing again... reality is that you either have the problem or you don't... question is what you do about it once you become aware that you have it.
If you are a treatment provider, this is likely highly significant, if you are struggling with addiction it doesn't matter at present as there is no treatment identified. Reality is that you have a problem and there are options as to what to do about it make a decision and move forward.
