Ah, Pete, there are so many to choose from. How about Whiskey Man?

Whiskey Man's my friend, he's with me nearly all the time
He always joins me when I drink, and we get on just fine

Nobody has ever seen him, I'm the only one
Seemingly I must be mad, Insanity is fun
If that's the way it's done

Doctors say he just a figment of my twisted mind
If they can't see my Whiskey Man they must be going blind

Two men dressed in white collected me two days ago
They said there's only room for one and Whiskey Man can't go

Whiskey Man will waste away if he's left on his own
I can't even ring him 'cause he isn't on the phone
Hasn't got a home

Life is very gloomy in my little padded cell
It's a shame there wasn't room for Whiskey Man as well

Whiskey Man's my friend, he's with me nearly all the time
He always joins me when I drink, and we get on just fine
Just fine

American Music Club's 'Sick of Food' always destroys me.

I'm sick of food
So why am I so hungry
I was sick of you
But I don't mind seeing your little face
I was sick of love
So I just stopped feeling
But I couldn't find anything to take its place

What'll I do with my time?

I'm sick of drink
So why am I so thirsty
I must have been born on the planet Mercury

I just called to ask you what I said last night
I just called to ask you what I did last night

So what'll I do with my time?

Now I wake up and I don't have any gravity
Now I wake up still walking in my sleep
Now I wake up feel the world drawing away from me
And now I wake up still walking in my sleep

I'm sick of food
So why am I so hungry
I'm sick of feeling the world draw away from me

And now I wake up
Yeah I remember
Feel the whole world draw away from me
Now I wake up what good is it
Another bright nothing
Another day

Oh I go through my phases with country-western .... but good 'ol Garth was a special place in my heart ..... maybe it's 'cause I dated someone that looked like he could be his twin except MUCH taller. Now, envision this ..... I'm not quite 5 ft. ..... he was 6'5" ..... and I swear to you, everywhere we went people would ask if he was Garth!

Garth has an incredibly sexy, soothing/great voice! I used to have a favorite love song by Gart ... 'cept can't think of then name of lyrics ..... something about calling from the road (he was a truck driver .... duh .... imagine that!) and he'd call home as often as he could to talk to his wife and LITTLE GIRL! That was a truly touching song for me!

SIGH!

Albert Collins' "I Ain't Drunk, I'm Just Drinkin'"

The best blues "I don't have a problem" song ever... and I can never get enough of Albert's blistering guitar work.

You done the right thing...
I want to thank you too...
Now let's have a little drink...
just me and you...
I don't care what the people are thinkin'
I ain't drunk, I'm just drinking...

Not the entire song but this part pretty much sums it up.

"How You Remind Me"

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
Tired of living like a blind man
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feeling
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
for handing you a heart worth breaking
and I've been wrong, i've been down,
been to the bottom of every bottle
these five words in my head
scream "are we having fun yet?"

yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no

One more...

Broadway-Goo Goo Dolls

Broadway is dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway is dark tonight
See the young man sitting
In the old man's bar
Waiting for his turn to die

The cowboy kills the rock star
And Friday night's gone too far
The dim light hides the years
On all the faded girls

Forgotten but not gone
You drink it off your mind
You talk about the world
Like it's someplace that you've been

You see you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
And you're livin' in a world
That you're best forgotten around here

You choke down all your anger
Forget your only son
You pray to statues when you sober up for fun
Your anger don't impress me
The world slapped in your face
It always rains like hell on the losers day parade

You see you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
'Cause you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
And when you're thinkin' of a joke
And nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point
I know they been missin' round here

This was *the* song I related to when I started looking at myself, my 20 years of drinking. Being a big Skid Row fan (and who isn't LOL ), I still listen to it... it reminds me of where my head was a few months ago.

Wasted Time

You and I together in our lives
Sacred ties would never fray
Then why can't I let myself tell lies
And watch you die every day?

I think back to the times
When dreams were what mattered...
Tough talking youth naivete

You said you never let me down
But the horse stampedes and rages
In the name of desperation

Is it all just wasted time?
Can you look at yourself
When you think of what
You left behind?

Paranoid delusions they haunt you
Where's my friend I used to know?
He's all alone
He's buried deep within a carcass
Searching for a soul

Can you feel me inside your heart
As it's bleeding?
Why can't you believe you
Can be loved?

I hear you scream in agony
And the horse stampedes and rages
In the name of desperation

Is it all just wasted time?
Can you live with yourself
When you think of what
You left behind?

The sun will rise again
The earth will turn to sand
Creation's colors seem to fade to grey
And you'll see the sickly hands of time
Will write your final rhyme
And end a memory

I never thought...
I never thought you'd let it get this far, boy

Unfortunately you had to be there, but when I was in rehab at LICR they have a stage for Tuesday night performances called the Junkie Jam.

The band who was performing played Cocaine by Eric Clapton and instead of the word Cocaine, they replaced it with Rehab. It had me rolling.

If you wanna hang out, you've gotta take her out: Rehab
If you wanna get down, get down on the ground: Rehab

She's alright,
She's alright,
She's alright,
Rehab

If you got that lose, you wanna kick them blues: Rehab
When your day is done, and you wanna ride on: Rehab

Don't forget this fact: You can't get it back: Rehab

Can't remember the name of the country song but, one line I always loved was:
My wife ran away with my best friend----------and I miss him. Don W
