Hi everyone! This is my first post. I've been a lurker at this forum for a week or so and it seems a great place for support. I am on my 4th day of sobriety (this time around) and hope it lasts a long long time! Yesterday I went to my first AA meeting. It has taken me years to get the nerve up to finally go...but I did and I found so much support there. I plan to continue. I have quit so many times, but without any support groups, I've always gone back to my old ways of being an A1 drunk. From what I've read here in this forum, it seems that the folks who stay sober attend AA or something of the sort. You all seem like a great group of people here and I know that I will find the INSTANT support here that I may not get waiting for the next AA meeting. One thing that I've found here is that my problem is not unique (Duh!) But I've felt alone for so long, and it's such a relief to find folks that share my exact problems. Thanks for being here. I plan to stick around for a very long time!

Hi Julia,
Welcome! You are right, you're not alone. I'm Anna, alcoholic and I agree with you completely that SR is a good place to visit. There's lots of inspiration to be found here.

Congratulations on your 4th day! and welcome to the sight. I dont post a lot, mainly I'm using the gratitude thread to remind myself daily of what I am greatful for. Many days, it dosent seem like anything big, but everyday is a big deal when I remember where I came from. Just hanging with the kids, or enjoying the sunrise, or experiencing a good cup of coffe without nausea induced hangover/drug crash is a big deal.
Keep seeking the support you need. You are NEVER alone!
Congrat again!
See you on the board

Welcome Julia,
I'm in the Pacific Northwest too, and I've seen a few others as well. I also believe that group support is a crucial component of recovery for alot of people, I know it is for me. Glad you're here!

Hi Julia!
4 days is great going, and what's even better is that you have a support system, a program in place to help you! Well done, you! Keep coming back here and going back there to AA and you can't lose!
Good luck!

Hi Julia, Welcome. Congrats on overcoming the fears and getting to a meeting! It was tough for me to walk through those doors too. But as you are realizing, alcoholics have a lot in common. And a group of alcoholics sharing their experiance, strength, and hope with eachother around a table can be powerful thing. Glad to have you here.
