Please Stay On The Sober Bus Pt 54
Electric cars are really popular here in Seattle too. Lots of money here - I think it's more the "Save the planet" green thing. Maybe. I have a gas car and no way to recharge an electric one. Those E-bikes/boards/scooters have taken over my nice walking trail. It's a problem.

I would love an electric car, but I would have to rewire my house, plus I don't have a garage. I will settle for driving a hybrid at the moment. It was fortuitous that I purchased one as a used car last spring when gas was still two dollars and change per gallon.

There are some hopeful lines of development with battery technology, one of which involves using sulphur instead of lithium. It's much cheaper than lithium and holds around 4 times the charge. There are some obstacles to overcome with it though.
Random recollection re batteries: Leclanché cell was a name that just came bubbling up from high-school science.
Used to draw diagrams of 'em as I recall.

On! Interesting stuff. Some years ago I was at a science park north of Oxford where they were doing research into sulphur-ion batteries and they were trying to develop what they referred to publicly as an umbrella system to stop contamination of the cells (in private they described it as working like a condom rather than an umbrella but even scientists can be coy)
