Not out loud, but in my head I "talk" to my AV sometimes. Not friendly at all

Any specific reason you are asking Notch? Polls can be a great way to get info but you should usually state what kind of question you are trying to answer so we can help you.

Nope. Not really. Just trying to keep it light.

I tend to think out loud. My co-workers got used to it. My family got used to it. Its just me.

I do talk to myself.
There is some rather interesting stuff going on in this brain of mine.
I've been working on changing the dialogue to a more positive station. Tuning into 99.1 Positive Empowerment! Its a really good station with heart warming messages.

I do. Usually to either berate myself loudly when I have done something stupid or to reassure myself when things are challenging. One of the things I say to myself (out loud) most often is: "to every problem there is a solution". Which I believe btw.

I do sometimes but it's mostly when i find something funny and i say god to myself. I do it on the ordinary stuff sometimes as well. Like lets do some popcorn.
I still have two voices in my head as well. but that's not someone talking to me, it's the devil advocate i have in me.

For me it's self-coaching. It helps to say out loud why I am choosing not to drink. I play the tape to the end of the story, and hearing it out loud, bouncing off the walls, somehow decreases the power of the AV and gives it back to me. Sometimes I "coach" myself out loud things I have read others say or advise on these forums - and this reminds me that I am not alone, that there are others all over the globe who are doing this work, day by day.

Yep. Sometimes out loud. I'll occasionally have a thought and literally say "WTF was that about?"

A day

"I talk to myself all the time."
"umm. That's really unhealthy."
"Quiet. It is not."

Its a myth that most people have an inner voice, they do not! There is no-one talking to them, there is no internal dialogue. So most people will not talk to themselves either internally or out loud.

Yep, I do it all the time. I would say it is almost entirely about chastising or berating myself.

I also shout out a fair bit, it’s a bit like a tic. Actually, that’s not true.... it is a tic!

All part of the strangeness that is Tufty

scd619x, so me thinking about this as i'm writing it is not an inner voice? I think it is. I'd like to think the devils advocate is what led me to this place. Gotta install english on my web browser, everything is underlined with red lines except for words like led which has the same meaning and is spelled the same way in swedish.

Sometimes.
But, mostly to my dog.
I like getting intelligent answers back to my questions.

Yes, I do, but I don't call it "talking to myself", I call it "talking out loud".

Read a paper on this and author claimed really good for cognition. Cultural reasons as to why we might find it nuts. I come up with some really good ideas, captive audience. 😂

It's ok. ok.

Hey, Tufty, I get that tic thing too. Particularly under times of complete stress.

I've read that it's OCD'ish. Anxiety based.

Tufty rocks.

Aaarrrggghhh!
