Thank you steely for using the term OCDish. I've had OCD since i believe early puberty. It was the worst during my teens, it's gotten better by the years though. During my teens i asked my mother several times before bed is the door locked. Checked to make sure that the sinks wasn't running (guess i worried way to much about a little bit of water dripping) ended up with a handle breaking off on two of them. Didn't want them to be running and costing us alot of money or problems. Locking the door and going to school took several minutes checking that the door was locked, did that several times. However, gotten better and especially the last couple of years since i got medicine against my OCD. Tufty, resolute, steely and all of the above, we humans are generally weird. resolute, i love to talk to my familys jack russell terrier when i visit them. he doesn't mind.

Yes, all the time. I find if I keep thoughts in my head they are not quite clear enough to make a decision, a little jumbled up in there. I talk it out, out loud and it seems to make more sense and more clear and more real. So most definitely, I actually look forward to quiet time when no one is around so I can figure some things out, out loud.
I do this a lot, kinda coach myself audibly through tricky situations if it's at all socially appropriate. There is quite a stigma attached if people notice you're talking to yourself instead of talking into some electronic device you know! Which is pretty bizarre itself when you think about it btw but whatever hahaha.
Oh yeah and I actually keep my private daily "journaling" on my little digital recorder now instead of writing it out old-school longhand, which is mostly laziness but it works for me.

Yeah I find it like TackleTheFear said, somehow I need to tell myself my thoughts almost and then they're clearer, it's weird. Sort of therapeutic too. Sometimes if I am out in the countryside somewhere with no-one around I can do a good conversation with myself about something, it really helps sort stuff out. Been 'busted' countless times though, people appearing unexpectedly, much to their amusement. I was mortified the first few times, now it's just something I'm used to, lol.
Yes, usually when I do something dumb when playing tennis and say something like "well, that was a stupid shot."
But I never answer back.
And fortunately, I never ask myself to speak louder because I didn't hear what I said.

No I do not talk to myself unless I hurt myself (like stubbing my toe, then I cuss) but I have a partner who talks from another room and I am hard of hearing, and cannot hear what he is saying so I get infuriated with him. He had a brain tumor five years ago and I suspect the "bloom" is growing. I feel sorry for him and try not to react but I am not able to totally disconnect from his mumblings. Very stressful.
