Sobriety and pre-spring cleaning tirades?

Did anyone else go on a tirade and "clean house" when they sobered up? Like reorganize closets, throw stuff away, give stuff away and almost become a born-again minimalist?

I literally filled a notepad with a checklist of areas of the house to go through.... with sub notes of what can be kept and what needs to go. Is this normal? Will I become a monk?

Go ahead a laugh. I'm already walking around the house in an old bathrobe and sandals. I'm thinking of shaving my head.

perhaps I should elaborate... I'm off to a retreat tomorrow (silent minimalism for 9 days) run by the abbot of a monastery next door. I've been giving away and throwing away things for a few months now. Wonderfully liberating. Anyway, all the best. (afk for 10 days)

Good for you! If I was single, I would jump at a chance like that.

There are some really good youtube channels on minimalistic lifestyles. Some more realistic than others. Its been a calling of mine for some time. Being married with a family makes it extra interesting.

I always wanted a clean start with everything when quitting too.
I think a lot of people feel like that?

A silent retreat....that sounds like heaven.

I've been purging stuff too.
Cluttered house = cluttered mind and all that.

One thing I've actually got catharsis out of from having to move house is indulging in minimalism. I have so little stuff now and I like it that way.
