Help

I’ve ordered a glass of wine. It’s been 44 days. I haven’t drank it. I’m always told to post here if scared. I am. I don’t want to screw up, but I want it!

There's nothing wrong with wanting it, it's the drinking it you have to worry about.
Do you really want to throw away forty four days for a lousy glass of wine?
Can you really have just one glass, or will it lead to a bottle or two?
I hope you don't drink it, but you're an adult and if you're anything like me, drinking that wine would lead to an interminable binge.
I hope you choose life.

Dump it. I TOTALLY understand. Tomorrow, you will be so glad you did. The old saying of "I have never regretted not drinking, but almost always regret drinking" always helps me because it is so true!!

Good going!
Yep, it is scary to come close. But great job on leaving. I was worried about you.
Believe me, you won't regret it. As Babycat says.

Glad you made the good decision not to drink that poison.

You prove to us that its never too late to abort a relapse. Even with the glass touching your lips you can still put the glass back down. Even with the poison in your mouth if you havent swallowed it you can still spit it back out.

But the most important thing is "label it poison". See it as poison, when I walk by the beer aisle at the supermarket I look at it like Pine-Sol

Let us not fall for the marketing lies such as "fancy wine in Paris at the the eifell tower" but instead see the wine as it TRULY is: An expensive poison that ruins people's lives, breaks up marriages, kills people in car accidents and so forth.

I'ts amazing how much of societies violence and misery can be attributed to the drug named alcohol. Our lives are infinitely better without it and we have a chance to reach our highest potential if we stay away from that rott-gut.

Good work today. Keep your quit. Dont wake up that sleeping lion or else you may stay out for months or years. And it may very well kill you the next time....dont play with fire

Here is the TRUTH about wine:

That’s the way it’s done, girl.

About 6 weeks into my quit I went to a gig and someone placed a glass of wine in my hands. New to handling social situations sober, I accepted it and just held it. Now, I’d just say “I don’t drink any more.”

These things get more natural with time.

7 weeks sober (49 days) tomorrow. Thrilling.

It’s actually been more like 10 weeks, but 48 days ago I used listerine not remembering alcohol was in it. While of course I shouldn’t count that as drinking, if I don’t count my sober start date as 48 days ago in my mind, my AV will say “well, you already cheated in the past 10 weeks with the listerine, so you might as well drink again.” Nuts, I know. So, 48 days today it is, 7 weeks tomorrow. That’s exciting.

I wanted to drink tonight, I just kept saying to myself “if you want one tomorrow you can have one but not tonight.“ And that’s what I’ll keep saying if the thought pops up. It helps me.

Thanks for listening.

Many congratulations on seven weeks!!

I used NyQuil with 10% alcohol in it twice during my sobriety. I sort of had the thought oops there’s alcohol in that but I had just the little half cup each time and didn’t worry my head over it.

First time I was at work and couldn’t see, my eyes were so watery and red from the virus. It worked.

Second time just miserable with a cold.

Intent matters. .
