Alcoholism is just ugly

If I had to sum it up to one word I would say ugly. It's a nasty, ugly disease.
Stay sober folks. Don't ever drink. Ever. Use every tool at your disposal to fight this disease. There is absolutely nothing pretty about this disease. It's just ugly. Period.

I'm fine Scott. Thank you for asking. It just wears on me seeing this disease plague my family members. I hate it. I hate everything about it. It's just something I'm going to have live with. I pray and ask. That's all I can do.

I completely agree. As someone who has experienced the horror of the drug it seems so strange to me that alcohol is so accessible.

Agreed. All these adverts you see and depictions of parties and things on TV and in movies where everyone is drinking heavily and it's completely fine are full of lies.

I know your sobriety is solid, and I'm so sorry you're dealing with it in your family.

It is truly awful. It gives nothing and takes all, and rips through families like wildfire, destroying everyone and everything in its path.

I hate it too. It keeps sneaking up differently and the same. And the lies... It's just emotionally and physically exhausting.

It’s a plague. Everything seems to revolve around it.
I know that can’t be true in all walks of life.
It’s a big part of northern uk living/lifestyle at least.
Hate is a strong word and I rarely use it but in this case it’s needed.
I hate it.

I add my voice in agreement. Both as a RA and living with active AH.

Exhausting on both sides.

Wishing us all a peaceful day today.

It's a thief. A fraud. A hijacker.

I watched the show on Netflix called Jessica Jones and I absolutely love it.

She is dealing with the trauma and then the ensuing complete mind control of a man called Kilgrave.
I used to say when I was really mind-f'd, totally gone or about to do something really bad in a dark place, that I was being Kilgraved.

Just one of the big deadly hijackers.
I don't get Kilgraved anymore. But he is always on the edges.

Active alcoholism is one of the ugliest things around - living recovery is one of the most beautiful.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Sunday.

Lovely.

So very true. Living recovery is living in gratefulness.
