It is an ugly disease. And deceiving too!!! Everything about drinking and alcoholism doesn't make sense to me.
Drunk driving for example kills, injures, and puts people in trouble with the law. Yet there's bars and drinking establishments all over the place. They even serve alcohol in movie theaters now!!! Do you really think some of these people aren't going to be driving after a night of drinking?
Family problems, abuse, breakups, poor job performance, the prison system, the health care crisis, the destruction of talented, good people, and the pain and suffering that alcoholics have to go through as well as their families, is enormous!!! Yet our society wants to be festive and encourage people to drink!!!
The whole thing about alcoholism just doesn't make any sense to me!!! I'm so glad I finally found sobriety!!! Thanks for this thread as a reminder of how ugly alcoholism is!!! I will continue to use every tool at my disposal to fight this disease!!!
