Name three things you failed to appreciate...

.... until you got sober.

I could use some encouragement today and thought this might cheer me up a bit! I'll go first:

1) waking up with a clear head

2) appreciate all days of the week/seasons (I used to hate Mondays)

3) the ability to focus and be creative.

Your turn!

My ability to make decisions (at all) and generally make the right ones

What consistent sleep feels like

How much my body can do physically - my yoga practice has taught me so much about where I can take my body (and mind)

100% of my decisions are made sober. This doesn't mean they are always correct - but it gives me a better chance.

I get respect and trust from others. Nobody gives me the side-eye anymore. People listen to me and are interested in what I have to say.

The ability to participate. Outdoor hikes. Vacations. Work conferences. Going out to dinner.....those were just a few things that I would either bail on, or majorly screw up during my drinking days. It feels better to be involved than to watch bleary-eyed from the sidelines.

Better health

More time to do the things I want (instead of wasting time getting alcohol, getting drunk, recovering from getting drunk, and spending time and energy trying to hide all that)

Improved self esteem
