No more " living life by the drop"

It's a song by the late great Stevie ray Vaughan.
Look up the lyrics. Say good bye to your "old friend " and enjoy freedom from this debilitating disease know as alcoholism.
No more wasted time folks, EVER!

Only got to see SRV 1x. One of my Top 5 shows of all time. Skipped the next show hoping to catch him the next time around...which sadly never happened. He also was in recoveey for heroin as well. Loved his work on Bowie's Let's Dance record.

I love Life by the Drop, and the entire posthumous album The Sky is Crying.

He was an oak cliff boy like myself. Love all his music. Thanks for the reply folks. I needed to listen to this song today. I've been cutting ties with destructive people this last 6 months. Today gratitude set in. It all started with saying goodbye to alcohol. The song just sums it up for me.

The final track of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s 1991 posthumous compilation album The Sky is Crying, though it was originally recorded two years earlier in 1989. Written by Stevie’s friend Doyle Bramhall, “Life By The Drop” is a solo acoustic blues track about Bramhall’s friendship with SRV from Bramhall’s perspective, though it’s been alternately interpreted to be at least somewhat about Stevie’s struggles with drug and alcohol abuse. In other words, this makes the song a cover version of another song someone else wrote about him.

I've meet Doyle. My brother in law has played dozens of gigs with him here in fort worth. I didn't know that about the song. Thanks for sharing this.

anyone here admire SRV????
some lines from his speech that i could relate to:

We were on our way back over to the States and I’m sitting there next to my mother and I didn’t have any money so I borrowed $20 to go buy some cigarettes on the plane, and she knew there was no machine, you know. [group laughs] I went and tried to find out how many Crown Royals I could get. And there is never enough. I learned that a long time ago there’s never enough dope and there’s never enough to drink. There’s either too much or not enough, you know. There is never just enough.
