Five weeks and going for ten...
Yep, that's ME I'm talking about. Five weeks clean as of today - exactly. Two weeks longer than I've ever stayed of the booze. Walked past shelves of liquor yesterday, and afterwards, was happily amazed at how I did not pause or gaze with longing or stood there salivating...
It gets easier each day, it really does.
This morning, after brushing my teeth, I stood in front of the mirror and inspected my tongue. Gods, I though - after a second, careful look - that can't be yours. Where's the greenish-yellow fur no toothbrush could get rid off? The stuff that tastes like someone took a dump in your mouth while you were drunk and passed out...
And do you know what I did? I kissed the girl. And she tasted GOOD!

It really does get better and better, doesn't it?! The key moment for me was when I stopped trying to convince myself that life was better sober, and started to accept and understand that it was actually true.
Congrats corrie, you have certainly come a long way in 5 weeks. It's not surprising really though - when you look back you've been spending a lot of time and effort on staying sober, and you are seeing the results of that. Keep it up!
